Defining authorities

Consider a hypothetical organization of people and departments as outlined below. All employees have CICS signon IDs, which are displayed in parentheses. All employees of the company not listed below are to have browse-only access to the Plant tables.

Plant department

The following individuals must be able to browse and to edit Plant tables.

  • Plant manager (PL99)
  • Foreman 1 (PL01)
  • Foreman 2 (PL02)

Finance department

The following individuals must be able to browse and edit Finance tables. In addition, the finance manager must be able to assist the accountants by accessing their sessions while in progress.

  • Finance manager (FI99)
  • Accountant (FI01)
  • Accountant (FI02)

Technical support department

Both of these individuals require unrestricted access to the system since they are responsible for tableBASE customer support.

  • Technical Support 1 (TS01)
  • Technical Support 2 (TS02) Backup

Application development department

Everyone in this department must be able to sign on to tablesONLINE/CICS as a Finance application user and a Plant application user in order to test and debug the user systems.

The following individuals must be able to sign on to tablesONLINE/CICS as an application developer.

  • Development Manager (AD99)
  • Developer 1 (AD01)
  • Developer 2 (AD02)
  • Developer 3 (AD03)

User AD01 has been designated as the tableBASE administrator who is responsible for setting up access to tablesONLINE/CICS and must have unlimited access to the system.
