VTS Gate is a security product which provides enhanced security for VTS-TSRs. With VTS Gate, three additional options are available for VTS-TSRs: SAF-interface protection (using security tools like ACF2, RACF, and Top Secret), hardware key protection and Read-only VTS-TSRs.
With SAF interface security, the access to a VTS-TSR is controlled by the level of access that a user has to the VTS. With hardware key protection, user applications are only allowed to read from a VTS-TSR; updates can be performed only by MVS-authorized programs running in supervisor state and key 0. Read-only VTS-TSRs do not permit updates to the VTS unless the VTS is placed in a read-write state by an authorized program. This option is available with or without any other security features.
