Getting Started with tableBASE RESTConnector

This chapter explains how to use tableBASE RESTConnector interface to configure and deploy APIs to expose data stored in tableBASE.

Note:
tableBASE RESTConnector interface is designed as a no-code approach. Product components are installed in the CICS region. Detailed information about the prerequisites and installation steps can be found in the tableBASE Installation Guide.

z/OS Connect is not a prerequisite to deploy the APIs using the RESTConnector interface. An example would be, native CICS Webservice facility can also be used to expose tableBASE data as CICS Webservices. z/OS Connect is recommended due to its rich features and ability to support OPEN API 2.0 and 3.0 standards. The RESTConnector User Guide provides detailed information on how to use IBM® Explorer for z/OS to configure APIs that interact with the tableBASE RESTConnector interface.

It is assumed that all the prerequisites tableBASE, tableBASE RESTConnector interface, and z/OS Connect or similar web services product are already installed and configured.

The following are the main steps required to get the data ready for the API.

  1. Design tableBASE tables and load data into the tableBASE into the library.
  2. Open the table in either a TSR or a VTS-TSR.
  3. Generate and Customize the copybook.
