RESTConnector runs on System Z using a CICS Transaction Server. It is designed as a generic component that can handle any data layout. It requires a customized version of the COBOL copybook layout that matches the fields required in the API request and response.
This feature empowers the users with the ability to quickly deploy mulitple APIs, reducing the effort and cost required to develop, test, and deploy code changes.
Additionally, when new fields are added or removed, only the copybook layout needs to be updated and uploaded into z/OS Connect. There is no need to ship any code changes to System Z.
