When both VTSManager and VTS Gate are licensed and in use, and that the RACF security feature of VTS Gate is enabled throughout. All compatibility behavior described here is predicated on the assumption both products are licensed and in use. If RACF protection is not in use, the access control rules described below do not apply.
It is also important to distinguish two different types of dynamic switching discussed in this document to avoid confusion:
- VTSManager Alias Switching — VTS Manager’s ability to dynamically switch a VTS-TSR from one VTS name (true name) to an alias name, or vice versa.
- VTS Gate Access Swapping — VTS Gate’s ability to dynamically swap a VTS-TSR’s access mode between RO (read-only) and RW (read-write) using the VV command.
These are distinct operations and should not be confused with one another.
