High Volume Data Optimization Solutions
DataKinetics transaction optimization technology is at the heart of mission-critical mainframe systems used by financial institutions, airlines, government departments, large retailers and more. The SQData product line provides the added ability to optimize movement of both mainframe and distributed data.
The SQData product provides a comprehensive range of data integration and data replication solutions that deliver fast time to value. With enterprise wide scalability, SQData solutions integrate disparate data sources and support multiple data delivery styles, enabling frictionless sharing of data across the entire enterprise.
We provide the following data integration and data replication solutions: - High availability / continuous availability for data
- Business intelligence
- Operational data store
- Data integration
- Event monitoring
- Improvements for existing ETL systems
High availability
|
|
We provide high availability solutions for companies with mission-critical databases. Many IT organizations have high volumes of data contained in databases which must always be available. For these organizations, our SQData solutions provide:
- Synchronization of data multi-directionally amongst a number of like systems for high availability
- Replication of data changes to a live standby subsystem
- Increased efficiency by focusing only on changed data, using Changed Data Capture (CDC).
- Ensured data consistency at the speed of data movement with Live Check™.
Figure 1 shows a near-real-time high availability scenario for an IMS system. Capture Agents on the primary node are used to acquire changed data — it is immediately placed in queue for transport to a Processing Engine on the secondary node, where, the changed data is saved. Changed data on the secondary node is transmitted to the primary node in the same way. Scaling is very straight forward — as the volume of data increases, more Processing Engines can be added to the configuration. The same basic technology and topology can provide highly-available data for many other systems including:
- DB2 systems
- Oracle systems
- VSAM-based systems
- SQL
- XML

Business Intelligence

We provide the ability to extract data from operational systems, to transform and merge that data and deliver it to platforms intended for advanced business analytics (for example, TeraData, etc.). Our solution allows the gathering of data from multiple disparate data sources (IMS, Oracle, DB2, etc.), using Changed Data Capture (CDC) technology. Changed data is processed and consolidated, via replication, into a single BI-ready format.

Operational Data Store
|
|
We provide the ability to extract data from operational systems, to transform and merge that data and deliver it to a platform used for Operational Data Store. Our solution allows the gathering of data from multiple disparate data sources (IMS, Oracle, DB2, etc.), the processing and consolidation of that data into the ODS system.
The example in Figure 1 shows a dual-node z/OS system (active-active) that feeds operational data into an Oracle-based ODS system on a UNIX platform. In this way, if the z/OS nodes contain only partial information on an event (e.g., a transaction, order, etc.), the ODS can provide a single view of the entire event.
This is just one example; SQData flexibility allows for many possible combinations of source platforms and ODS platforms.

Data Integration

As organizations are burdened with ever-increasing volumes of data, demand is growing for data integration tools to support data acquisition, data alignment and data sharing. SQData data integration solutions offer the fastest time-to-value, provide incremental scalability and support a wide range of data delivery styles. We offer the most flexible data replication solutions to most effectively deliver best-in-class data integration.
We provide a virtual application integration by integrating the data without actually requiring modifications to the applications.
The example in Figure 1 shows a dual-node z/OS SysPlex IMS shop integrating data into an Oracle database on a UNIZ platform. The same basic technology and topology can provide data integration for many other source configurations including:
-
DB2 systems
-
Oracle systems
-
VSAM-based systems
-
SQL
-
XML
Similarly, the destination systems can be any of:
-
IMS systems
-
DB2 systems
-
VSAM-based systems
-
SQL
-
XML

Event Processing
|

We provide a flexible and cost-effective solution for organizations with a need to detect patterns within their data, and to capture events within it. Typical events and patterns include things like e-mail handling and bank card fraud handling.
Figure 1 shows an event and pattern-processing scenario for an operational z/OS-based DB2 system. While data is being moved in the replication from DB2 to the Oracle database, it is captured from the DB2 database, passed on to a processing engine on the UNIX platform, via a queue. Normal replication occurs at the UNIX-based Oracle database; but at the same time, data of interest is used by UNIX applications, as required. In this case, data is passed to a credit card fraud detection application and an e-mail processing application, before being finally stored in the Oracle database.
The same basic technology and topology can provide this capability for many other systems on the source side including:
-
IMS systems
-
Oracle systems
-
VSAM-based systems
-
SQL
Similarly, the destination systems can be any of:
-
IMS systems
-
DB2 systems
-
VSAM-based systems

New efficiency for existing ETL systems
|

Current Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) technologies are being overwhelmed by the growing demands of today's ever-increasing data volumes. SQData's Changed Data Capture (CDC) technology can solve this problem, while allowing you to leverage your current ETL investments.
SQData's LiveCheck consistency checking technology can also be added to existing ETL systems to improve the accuracy of these systems.
Figure 1 shows a contemporary ETL system enhanced by SQData CDC technology. Changed data in the primary DB2 database is captured and send to the queue for Enhanced ETL Processing Engine. The engine can either apply synchronized data directly to the secondary DB2 database, or apply it to an ETL system (e.g., DataStage) via a staging table.
