Benchmark tests show dramatic DB2 performance enhancements
DB2 DBMS
DB2 is the standard database management system used for large-scale data processing on IBM and IBM-compatible mainframes. Many companies have a significant investment in their mainframe computing infrastructure, and face further investment in expensive upgrades due to increasing computing demands.
tableBASE
tableBASE is a memory resident table management system that complements DB2, IMS and other DASD-based DBMSs. It enables data to be placed in memory for high speed access, reducing code paths, I/O and CPU usage. As a result, the performance of DB2 can be dramatically enhanced when used in tandem with tableBASE.

Benchmark tests
Benchmark tests performed jointly by IBM and Data Kinetics, and reviewed by Branham Group, Inc., an independent research group, have shown that using tableBASE, companies can substantially reduce CPU overhead. The tests consisted of populating tables with data in memory, browsing the data, and accessing the data. Tests were performed to show both DB2 and tableBASE configured realistically, with no resource constraints, in a simulated high-volume, high-transaction environment.
